Success, setback to SUCCESS: My first Listing
I was so proud and excited when I landed my first listing. From the moment I got off the call with the seller, I jumped into action. I ran comps, contacted the title company, prepped for a photographer, and listed the home as "Coming Soon" on the MLS. I even scheduled an open house for the first available weekend. I followed every step by the book to ensure a smooth sale.
Within days of our open house, we had multiple offers. We decided to go with the highest one, and I was thrilled. The buyer's agent assured me he wanted a smooth escrow process, but that turned out to be far from reality.
My counterpart was an experienced realtor with years in the industry and numerous closed deals. Despite being new to real estate, I was comfortable with contracts and negotiation. However, once we entered escrow, it was clear that my job was far from over. It became a game of constant renegotiation. Every step seemed to require adjustments, ultimately leading to the buyer pulling out of escrow.
Fortunately, we had backup offers. We managed to secure a deal with another interested buyer, and both sides were happy in the end.
I share this story because it taught me a valuable lesson: never assume the job is done until the ink is dry. In real estate, unexpected events are part of the game. We must always be prepared and adaptable. Lean on past experiences, find great mentors, and stay ready for anything.
We stand on the shoulders of our heroes, so let's choose giants as our mentors. Learn from their wisdom, and use every challenge as an opportunity to grow. Remember, in real estate, as in life, persistence and adaptability are key to success.
Stay ready, stay resilient, and keep moving forward.
